LD010 - ex per i mental

💿 Lost Dubs 010 – ex per i mental (2008)

Originally, Lost Dubs 010 was going to be a chill rework of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. As much as I loved that version, the unlicensed vocals meant it had to stay in the vaults.

In its place comes something that never really fit in anywhere — ex per i mental. Produced in 2008 while I was preparing to play at Pentaport Music Festival in Incheon, South Korea, this track was a nod to the incredible drum programming of friends and colleagues Sixteenarmed Jack and Krinjah.

There’s no melody, no hook — just rhythm, space, and texture. For years, it sat unreleased. But one night, after a long night out, I listened again and heard something new — something I can’t quite describe. Talking about music is like singing about architecture, but whatever it is, it’s there.

ex per i mental is disorienting in the best way — a track that makes you feel unmoored, drifting through time and sound.
